Reflection
I think it is okay to have doubts in your decisions, but if you flip flop on a decision and its not working either way, step away from it and let it all rest. Don’t try to make the decision a third time until you’ve allowed yourself space to come down and look at the situation rationally.
I think often times we feel the speed of the moment, or we look for it. We want things to happen fast and for their to be an excitement about our life. I think that is something we all really need to look at ourselves on. Why do we desire to live in euphoria? To feel a rush, and to not sit peacefully and observe. How many times have I caught myself overly hyped in the moment to then go, I should’ve probably waited. Sometimes its our anxiety that drives it, our fear, or our need to feel accepted. All of these are emotions that we allow to control our decisions. It’s hard, most of us are human and not wizards…lol…. We live in the moment and we do the best we can with the information we know at the time, with the energy and state of mind we’re in.
I watched The Big Lebowski again the other night, and it’s such an interesting way to write a movie. Arguably the Dude never takes or starts his own actions, it’s all driven by outside forces. In the end the outside forces even resolve themselves. The Dudeness doesn’t find Bunny and make everything ok. It just sort of ends. The Dude wanted peace and for his rug back man, because it really tied the whole room together. Even as we hear him list what he’s done with his life like being a roadie for Metallica, its underachieving, but we don’t feel pity for him…that’s sorta just the dude.
In fact to some degree, I may even envy him, he has resigned himself to chase nothing, just be happy. He has found his zen as long as the eagles aren’t on. There’s something bigger to be learned from all of that, he’s far poorer than the mirror of himself Lebowski, yet we know he is much happier. He is not gripped and is not a slave to any desire. He is almost a master of his own internal self. He lives how he wants to and refuses to envy. He doesn’t let things get to him, the dude just… well… the dude abides.
